Multi-Step Madness: Jayjun Anti-Dust Whitening Mask & Anti-Dust Therapy Mask

Jayjun Cosmetic is a Korean Skincare known for creating high-quality products and is famous for their excellent and indulgent sheet masks. I’ve tried many other Jayjun masks before, so I knew I was in for a treat! I simply couldn’t resist the fancy packaging and extra nature of these multi-step masks, so I thought I had to pick these up and review them for you all!

What Does Anti-Dust Mean, Anyway?

In case you haven’t heard, South Korea has been undergoing a pollution crisis that has skyrocketed over the course of the last few years and caused major public health concern. Specifically, Seoul suffers from high concentrations of fine dust particles, which are extremely small particles containing sulfur, carcinogens, metals, bacteria, and a whole bunch of other stuff that you don’t want in your body. Due to their size, the particles are able to reach the lungs, so it’s a big issue, so much so that the government issues fine-dust alerts to citizen’s mobile phones when concentrations hit dangerous levels. It’s for this reason that it’s not uncommon to see people walking the streets of Seoul in surgical masks. As a result, there has been growing concern among the Korean public of fine dust’s health outcomes, as well it’s effect on skin. Somewhat depressingly but unsurprisingly, K-Beauty brands have responded to this public health crisis by capitalizing on the trend and releasing anti-dust skincare lines. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s get on with the reviews!

Anti-Dust Whitening Mask

Step 1: Anti-Dust Luminous Mask

Potential Irritants

The mask has quite a lengthy ingredients list, so it does open up the possibility for irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin. It also contains denatured alcohol but as the 4th to last ingredient so I didn’t worry so much about it having a drying effect. In addition, contains artificial fragrance which can be irritating to some.

Material & Fit

Scent

This mask contains artificial fragrance as the final ingredient, which is the case for most sheet masks. The scent is fresh and floral but not overpowering.

Essence

Wear-time

I wore the mask for about 50 minutes before it began drying out, which is quite impressive.

Immediate Results

After I removed the mask, a layer of milky essence still sat on top of my skin which I gently work into my face to be absorbed. Upon removal, my skin was noticeably brightened, softened and extremely moisturized. It left me with a nice glow as well!

Step 2: Anti-Dust Luster Ampule

Claims

“It is a sleeping pack highly enriched ampule that helps with skin brightening by lightening the color of melanin (their words, not mine) in the skin and makes the skin smooth and shiny.”

Step 3: Anti-Dust Eyes Under Corrector

Overall Thoughts

This is a medium weight cream with a pale orange color. It is meant to brighten and tighten the underage area. I didn’t notice a brightening effect after first use but I maybe noticed a slight firming effect. There was plenty to use for more than one use, so I decanted the rest into a tiny jar and continued using it for the next week. It’s a solid eye cream, but nothing special. I didn’t notice brightening effects, but I have pretty gnarly genetic and allergy-induced dark circles. I have other eye creams that I find much more moisturizing, so I found myself longing to return to those. Anyway, after about a week, the cream dried up in the pot so I tossed it without much regret.

Next Morning Results

The next day, I woke up to soft and smooth skin. The day before I was having a “bad skin day”, with blotchiness and bumps galore, and just overall irritation. Following the night I used the mask and all the steps, I woke up to a much better skin day! My skin appared to be more even and less red. I can safely say that these effects were due to the mask and not the other steps since I continued to use the eye cream and ampoule for the next week and did not see similar results.

Anti-Dust Therapy Mask

Step 1: Anti-Dust Fresh Foam Cleanser

pH Level: It fell between a 6.5-7 (neutral) according to my lab test strips, which although is not low-pH, is perfectly acceptable.

Notable Ingredients

The ingredients are very similar to the Whitening version, with the exclusion of Pearl. Therefore, the key beneficial ingredients are pretty much the same. One interesting ingredient unique to this mask is Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, A.K.A. Peony Root Extract, which is used in Chinese Herbal Medicine for soothing and moisturizing dry, itchy skin.

The mask also features an abundance of herbal extracts, but since I’m no expert on herbal medicine, I cannot speak to their benefit. But just know that they’re probably good for your skin!

Potential Irritants

Again, denatured alcohol and fragrance may be an issue for some, so please check your sensitivities before use!

Material & Fit

As with the Whitening version, the material was incredibly soft and form-fitting. But this time in a fun, mint green shade!

Scent

Same scent as the other mask. Generically floral and non-offensive.

Essence

Wear-time

I wore this for a solid 40 minutes. So it soaked up a bit quicker than the Whitening mask but still, pretty great!

Immediate Results

Step 3: Anti-Dust Intensive Cream

We’re in the home stretch, guys! The final step of the Therapy Mask was a rich cream.

This sheet masks from Jayjun are simply gorgeous to look at and created a very luxurious experience! That being said, the actual sheet masks themselves, and not the other steps, are the real stars of the show. Jayjun is a brand known for its high-quality masks, and it definitely lived up to that standard with these masks. The results are dramatic and long-lasting (for a sheet mask, so the results roll over into the next day). I just wish these masks were sold as a single step and maybe a dollar cheaper. Then I would definitely stock up! Still, it is totally worth giving these masks (and all Jayjun masks) a try.
